Due to United States Soccer Federation changes for Fall 2016, our programs have changed.

Clinic:
This program is designed for inexperienced players in the U4-U6 age groups (see Soccer Age Group Determination for exact ages), and stresses the joy of playing soccer then fundamentals, skills and good sportsmanship. Clinic is a non-competitive program in which no standings are kept and the sole purpose is to teach the game and develop a love for this great sport.

Recreational:
This program is tailored specifically for children in the U7 - U13 age groups and serves to enhance the skills taught in the Clinic program, while introducing these children to the concept of competition. It also provides a place to play and learn for the older child, who might not be interested in the commitment of a travel team, or whose skills and/or experience might not be sufficiently strong to allow them to succeed in the travel team program.

There are three new subsets of the Recreational program:

Mini-field Recreational
- U7 and U8 players will participate in a smaller formatted game of soccer. U7 teams will play 4v4 with no goalkeepers on a 20x30 yard field, U8s will play 5v5 on the same field size. Ocean County Recreational League will support these formats, but Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association will not be supporting this format, so no travel option will exist for Mini-field soccer.

Developmental Recreational - U9 and U10 players will move to a slightly larger format than mini-field. Teams will play 7v7 including a goalkeeper on a 30x47 yard field. Ocean County Recreational will support this format, as will Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association, as such, both Travel and Recreational options will exist at the Developmental level.

Small-Sided Recreational - U11, U12 and U13 players will move to a slightly larger format than developmental soccer. Teams will play 9v9 including a goalkeeper on a 47x75 yard field. Ocean County Recreational will support this format.

Travel:
For players in the U9-U18 age groups who have the skill and interest, the Travel program provides the challenge of true competitive soccer. Experience is required in most cases and players typically must attend a tryout to ensure their skill level is appropriate for the team. Although we will make every effort to place every child that wants to play, placement cannot be guaranteed at this age level.

There are three new subsets of the Travel program:

Developmental Travel - U9 and U10 players will move to a slightly larger format than mini-field. Teams will play 7v7 including a goalkeeper on a 30x47 yard field. Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association, as such, both Travel and Recreational options will exist at the Developmental level.

Small-sided Soccer - U11, U12 players will move to a slightly larger format than developmental soccer. Teams will play 9v9 including a goalkeeper on a 47x75 yard field. Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association will support this format, and as such, both Travel and Recreational options will exist at the Small-sided level.

Full-sided Soccer - Travel teams U13 and above will continue to play full 11v11 soccer as they currently do.

Individual Programs

U7 Player Pool :
The U7 Player Pool Program is TRFC’s FREE program for the U7 player, designed to build on the foundation blocks set out in the Clinic and U6 In-House Programs. Ball manipulation and control are continued to be taught while at the same time beginning the introduction of basic ideas of cooperation and teamwork using game like activities and small sided games. The player pool concept will be used whereby players will be assigned to trainers randomly to vary exposure to all players in the age group and to better prepare them for transition to the travel team model.
